“There’s no God-given right for companies to even exist forever.
They have to serve a social purpose.”
You might (perhaps) be surprised by the author of this quote, that fits so well with the big question, the theme of ebbf’s annual conference:
HOW CAN WE ELEVATE BUSINESS & THE ECONOMY TO SERVE HUMANITY?
It was the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, who stated this in a recent interview dedicated to exploring the future of companies, of partnerships and of course of AI.
Furthermore, Rainn Wilson offered an overarching context to addressing the elevation of business to serve humanity, in One Planet Ops’ similarly themed conference.
He shared a starting point to our desire to build spiritual enterprises.
“Systems are corrosively broken and operating under the very worse of human impulses … we need to examine what is profoundly broken … and not just slapping band aids on top of them.”
Moreover the 28th of November 2023 message from the Universal House of Justice reminds us that:
“a humanity baffled and divided by the manifold problems resulting from the operation of the forces of disintegration eagerly seeks new insights.”
and
“At all levels of society, leaders of thought increasingly associate the Bahá’í community with fresh conceptions and approaches sorely needed by an ever more disunited and dysfunctional world. The society-building power of the Faith”
SO WHAT ARE THESE FRESH APPROACHES?

offered two radical new concepts to bring about this elevation of our workplaces to truly serve humanity in a recent ebbf online event: HOPE and JOY
“Isn’t it just a given that there is hope and joy in the worplace? Why do we need to aspire and aim for it to be there? The question then becomes how. How do we create more hope and joy in our workplaces?”
